All professional pesticide users are required to have received adequate instruction, training and guidance in their correct use. Pesticide users must hold a Certificate of Competence if they were born after 31st December 1964 or are providing a commercial service e.g. contractors or anyone spraying on land that does not belong to their employer. If an operator does not hold a Certificate of Competence, they are required to be closely supervised by someone who is qualified. However, it is Best Practice for all operators to hold a Certificate of Competence, even if they are being supervised. The recognised Certificates of Competence for the use of Pesticides are issued by the National Proficiency Tests Council www.nptc.org.uk and the Scottish Skills Testing Service www.ssts.org.uk. Nomix Enviro provides comprehensive training in all areas of herbicide application.
