Herbicides need to have specific aquatic approval to be used in or near water.  Details of the approved uses are on the product label.  If a product has approval for aquatic use, agreement must be obtained from the Environment Agency before it is applied in or near water. 

Operators applying herbicides must specifically hold a PA6AW, NPTC Certificate of Competence.  This allows aquatic application using a hand-held sprayer. For further information regarding operator training, please click here.
