Certain pesticides have an aquatic buffer zone requirement. LERAP offers benefits to both the operator and the environment, by allowing a reduction of pesticide buffer zones, according to the specific situation, protecting aquatic life from products that pose the greatest risk.
If a restriction applies, this will be detailed on the product label, along with the category. If you want to reduce this aquatic buffer zone, there is a legal obligation to carry out and record a LERAP.
If there is no buffer zone requirement stated on you product’s label for use near a watercourse, or there is no watercourse adjacent to the spray site, then the LERAP scheme DOES NOT APPLY.
LERAP category A – Buffer zone cannot be reduced. LERAP category B – Buffer zone may be reduced following LERAP assessment.
