description
A non-selective residual herbicide formulated as a pigmented, ready-to-use, oil-in-water emulsion containing 145.3 g/l (13.3% w/w) isopropylamine salt of glyphosate (equivalent to 109 g/l glyphosate) plus 217.6 g/l (20% w/w) diuron.

Top of page
uses
Touché may be used on railways, industrial sites, footpaths and pavements, farm buildings and other non-crop land. Touché can also be used in amenity areas such as ornamental tree and shrub plantings to control weed growth.

Top of page

Touché controls emerged weeds and prevents further weed
growth from seed. One of its active ingredients, glyphosate, is absorbed by green leaves and stems, and is translocated to the
roots and rhizomes of the weeds. The second active ingredient, diuron, acts through the soil to provide residual control of weeds germinating after application.

Symptoms on the weeds take at least 14 days to appear and may take longer, particularly in poor growing conditions and on
broad-leaved weeds.

advantages
    • A truly unique formulation - combines thorough knockdown with residual activity.
    • Minimises drift around valuable plantings using the Nomix Weed Control System.
    • Overcomes tank-mixing antagonism.
    • No mixing, no measuring, low volume application for improved efficiency.
    • Ideally suited for use by local authority spray teams since footpaths, tree bases and shrubbery areas can be treated with the same chemical at the same time.

directions and areas of use

time of treatments
Apply Touché at any time of the year when the weeds are green and actively growing.  Best results are achieved with Touché on perennial weeds when they have a full emergence of actively growing green leaf. Perennial grasses are susceptible when tillering and new rhizome growth has commenced, normally when plants have 4-5 new leaves. Perennial broad-leaved weeds are most susceptible if treated at or near flowering, but will be severely checked if treated with Touché at other times when they are actively growing.

Top of page

application
Touché should only be applied through a Nomix TDC applicator.

Do not decant Touché from the original container. Shake the pack very thoroughly and connect directly to the Nomix applicator according to the directions in the instruction manual.

Top of page

disc selection
The spiral and square discs should be used where the spray width required is less than 0.6m and is recommended where total eradication of drift is required e.g. shrub beds and confined areas. The narrow swath is also appropriate for application to pavement edges, obstacles (e.g. around trees, fence lines, gravestones) or spot treatment of paved areas where accuracy is required. When using the spiral or square disc at narrow settings of less than 0.6m, care should be taken that the spray quality is adequate to ensure weeds receive an even coverage of spray.

The serrated disc should be used where swaths of greater than 0.6m are required e.g. extensive paved areas.

application rates

The application rate of Touché depends on the usage:

Small annual weeds: 10 l/ha

General weed control 15 l /ha

Established annual and perennial weeds: 20 l/ha

weeds controlled
Touché controls most emerged grasses and annual broad-leaved weeds which are actively growing and a wide range of germinating weeds will be controlled by it's residual activity.

Perennial grass weeds which are actively growing and have 10-15cm of new leaf growth will be controlled for the season of treatment. Emerged perennial broad-leaved weeds which are actively growing will be checked but some species may not be controlled.

Most species of germinating weeds will be controlled, however germinating plantains and speedwells are resistant, and germinating groundsel, cleavers and red-dead nettle are moderately resistant. These should be controlled post emergence using Hilite when the plant is green and growing and has adequate leaf surface to ensure efficient uptake of product.

Top of page

plant safety
Use on ornamental trees, shrubs and shrub nurseries.

Ornamental trees and shrubs should be established for over 12 months.

When using Touché to control weeds growing amongst trees or ornamental shrubs only use the 10-15 l/ha rates. Ensure even application as overdosing could damage the trees and shrubs.

Touché should not be used in tree and shrub nurseries or before planting trees or shrubs.

The following tree and shrub species have been found to be susceptible to diuron and should not be treated: Berberis, Deutzia, Elaeagnus, Escallonia, Forsythia, Hypericum, Leycestria, Ribes, Robinis, Senecio, Syringa and Weigela.

Direct application to trees and shrubs should be avoided. Care should be taken to avoid contact with foliage or the stem of young trees. A droplet size should be chosen which is visible and can be directed precisely when spraying close to a tree or shrub. Band spraying is the recommended method of application.

Top of page

limitations of use
Application around drains or areas where there is likely to be rapid run-off of herbicide into the water supply is not recommended. (Hilite is an ideal alternative for these areas).

Soil: Weed control may be reduced on heavy soils or soils with high organic matter on ash substrates.

Ornamental trees and shrubs: Do not treat sands, gravely soils and soils with an organic content of less than 1%.

Maximum Number of Treatments: One application per year.

Top of page

weather conditions
At least 6 hours and after preferably 24 hours rain-free must follow spraying. If rainfall occurs soon after treatment initial weed control may be reduced. Retreatment with Hilite may be necessary.

Under normal weather conditions the Nomix Weed Control System does not result in spray drift. However, in windy conditions, some sideways drift may occur, particularly when the large serrated disc is used. Spraying is not recommended in these conditions.

Reduced control may occur when weeds are suffering from drought stress, water logging, heat or frost.

Top of page

subsequent land use
Touché contains a residual herbicide and should not be applied to soils which may be planted later.

Top of page

equipment hygiene
It is essential to thoroughly clean out Nomix applicators using Nomix Cleaner, especially between applying this product and other pesticides, to avoid contamination from such products.
